Thame Rotary stays connected with the Local Community
Linda Emery and Erroll Bateman at Thame Food Festival
Following the Erroll Bateman’s spectacular charity sky dive in July, the Rotary Club of Thame had a prominent presence at Thame Food Festival last Saturday, 24 September. The club members raised a bit over £660 from the sale of raffle tickets towards hampers with good foods and wines donated by the club members. The profits from the sale will go primarily towards Red Kite Children’s Centre, Wheel Power, and Hope and Homes for Children which are Rotary Club of Thame’s charities in 2016-2017. Linda Emery, Mayor of Thame, and also a former president of the Rotary Club, pulled the winning raffle tickets at the Thame Food Festival.
The good work good carried out by ShelterBox and AquaBox, two disaster relief charities setup by Rotary International was on display at the festival.
The Rotary Club of Thame will continue to be busy in the coming months. The club will give a hand to Thame Schools parents associations with the traditional fireworks in November.
To celebrate Christmas, the club in partnership with Thame Inner Wheel and Thame Town Council will organise the Senior Citizens Tea Party at the Thame Football Club on Friday 9 December. This year it will be the turn of the John Hampden School choir to sing Christmas songs to the participants.
The club is also inviting teams of up to 6 to participate at the 5th edition of the Thame Swimathon due to take place at the Thame Leisure Centre on Sunday 26 February. The teams will swim for one hour, have fun and raise funds for charity. Anyone over the age of 8 can participate.
