New Coronation tree planting
Last week we planted our Coronation oak tree in Churchill Crescent play area!
Thanks to the Peter Griffiths and Sue Martin-Downhill from Thame Trees and 21st Century Thame for organising the planting of the 4 year old oak tree at Churchill Crescent recreation area.
We are extremely grateful to the residents who have volunteered to nurture the tree over the next couple of years by watering when required.
We caught up with Lillian, one of the volunteers for a chat about the new tree. She explained how she got involved in volunteering, ‘It was really sad knowing there was nothing we could do to save the black poplar that was felled. That’s why I was so keen to get involved with watering the new oak tree, because there was some positive action to be made. I’ve always loved being outside, being surrounded by nature, but as for gardening it’s a new interest!’
If you would be interested in volunteering, whether that be for our planting schemes or with helping others in need, please email info@thametowncouncil.gov.uk for further info.
