Thame Prepares for Christmas Lights Switch-On

Thame at Christmas time

Preparations are well underway for Thame’s Christmas Lights Switch-On event on Friday 29 November. This year, we are encouraging visitors to come dressed in “Christmas” fancy dress – wear your favourite Christmas jumper, bring a lantern, or dress-up as a Christmas tree or reindeer! There will be spot prizes on the night for the best dress-ups.

Sponsored by Lightfoots Solicitors, the evening will feature a delightful array of stalls selling unique hand-knitted and engraved items, jewellery, toys, cheese boxes, breads, cakes, even gifts for your four-legged friends! Party-goers will be able to indulge their tastebuds with a variety of cuisines on offer, along with festive drinks and hot chocolates.

We’ll be getting into the festive spirit with performances from the Thame Concert Band, Thame Players, and local singer Philippa Mummery. There’ll be a Christmas selfie station thanks to Your Dentist in Thame, free rides for the kids thanks to Thame Cars, and of course, no switch-on event would be complete without a visit from Santa.

Thame’s Christmas tree has once again been donated by ASM Auto Recycling, and the Christmas lights will be switched on by Thame local and beloved “Sweets Man” Chris Hurdman. Chris recently received the Community Award at the recent English Veteran’s Awards for his commitment to local events and support of Helen & Douglas House and RE:ACT Disaster Response.

We’ll have more details about Christmas in Thame over the coming weeks.
