Community Christmas Organisers Give Thanks

On Christmas Day, a group of local volunteers came together to provide lunch for those in need of support or who would otherwise have been on their own. The organisers asked us to share their heartfelt thanks to all involved:

A huge thank you to the generous members of our community in Thame!

The chef team of Lyndon Broom and Sam Hornblow cooked a sumptuous Christmas dinner for just over 90 guests, ably assisted by approximately 50 volunteers who between them delivered leaflets, prepared vegetables, wrapped gifts, delivered meals to housebound guests, collected guests to come to the Masonic Hall, laid the table, served meals, provided conversation and entertainment, washed up and cleaned down. Thank you all. We couldn’t provide this service without you.

In addition to the voluntary support, we were donated items to gift by individuals and organisations, as well as cash to help fund the lunch next year. Special mention to 52 Lives for the Thame Calendars, Oakman Inns for the turkeys, Bucksum for the vegetables, DAF Trucks for the Christmas Cakes, Thame Flower Stall for shortbread biscuits and sweets, Kubota and Red Helix for gift items collected by staff, Sainsbury’s for the mince pies, Waitrose for cleaning products and some liquid refreshment for the cleaning team, Fatface for gift bags, Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Shop for dinner plates, Bronwen Fishburn for the beautiful table decorations, and an anonymous donor of a mountain of Quality Street chocolates, thank you all!

A final thank you to the Masonic Lodges of Thame for the generous use of their hall and to Thame Town Council for promoting the lunch to residents and providing a collection point for donated items.

If you would like to donate to the CCT Lunch to help fund the lunch in December 2025, it’s not too late. All donations gratefully received –
