Good Luck to Market (Mountain) Man!
Thame’s market man, Chris Hurdman, wasn’t manning his sweets stall on Tuesday – and for good reason. He is attempting to climb Mount Aconcagua in Argentina while raising funds for Helen & Douglas House and RE:ACT Emergency & Crisis Response in the process.
On Monday, 6th January, Chris posted on his Facebook page: “Already at 2862m above sea level and our oxygen levels are down to 95 from its normal 99. Tonight is our last night in accommodation, from now on its tents. Tomorrow we are looking at a 500m elevation gain and our first view of Aconcagua and start our track through the Vacas Valley. The scenery has been spectacular and I’m looking forward to what tomorrow brings.”
Chris has already raised over £4,500 for his charities. If you would like to support Chris on his climb, simply head to his Give Wheel fundraising page:

Aconcagua is one of the “Seven Peaks” and the highest peak outside of the Himalayas.
At an elevation of 6,961 metres, Chris says the chances of reaching the summit are around 50/50, but he is willing to give it his best shot.
