Winter Farm Walk this Saturday

Explore the beauty of Village Farm, Emmington, nr Chinnor (OX39 4AA) on Saturday (18 Jan) and learn more about the links between the Chilterns and the soil on the farm.

This is the second in a series of themed ‘walks’ with the overarching subject of the links between the farm setting to the wider Chilterns landscape.

  • Geology – discussing the geological links between the Chiltern hills/chalk streams, the scarp slope and the on-farm geology of clay/clay loam over chalk.
  • How soil management on the farm influences crops and the wider environment. As the farm continues to implement regenerative agriculture techniques, they are seeing improved water infiltration, greater water holding capacity and thus cleaner water run-off to watercourses.
  • Have a go at some simple soil field tests which you can take back to your own garden or allotment.

Tom Knowles will guide you on a scenic walk around the farm. It’s a great way to get some fresh air, stretch your legs, and connect with nature. Don’t forget to dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes/wellies as it could be wet under foot.

Tickets are free, but visitors are asked to reserve a spot here:
