Thame Pride Organisers Celebrate at Official Launch

It was a full house at Candelo Lounge on Wednesday 29 January, as the team behind Thame’s first ever Pride Festival announced details of the event.

Nearly seventy supporters and founding sponsors packed the venue to hear about the event which will take play this year on Midsummer’s Day, 21 June.

The festival will see the town’s centre closed to create a Pride Village hosting family-friendly entertainment and music on two stages. Stars of the West End and national television will also take part thanks to their close allegiances with Thame.

Thame Pride has partnered with Lord Williams’s School, Thame Library, and Thame Town Council to offer a wide range of educational activities, while Thame Women’s Rugby Club and Thame Runners have organised a fundraiser in the spring of 2025.

Thame Town Council has also given financial support and many local businesses are founding sponsors of the festival.

On Wednesday night, musicians from Lord Williams’s School provided entertainment for the launch, and Mayor, Cllr Andy Gilbert emphasised how important Pride is in demonstrating Thame’s inclusivity.
