On Monday 24 March, Thame Mayor, Cllr Andy Gilbert visited Southern Road Recreation Ground play area to meet with the winners of the ‘Smoke Free’ signs that have been placed around the play area.

Cllr Gilbert previously visited St Joseph’s School to pick four posters which were then made into metal signs. The signs were funded by Oxfordshire County Council as part of their Smoke Free Oxfordshire campaign.

Pictured with the Mayor are the four winners, Ayla, Elsie, Toby and Molly; two senior members of the school council, Hallie and Andrew, and teacher, Miss Oakley, who coordinated the project together with Thame Town Council.

You will also find signs designed by pupils from John Hampden School in the play area at Elms Park. There is a similar project currently underway at Barley Hill School and the winning designs will be installed in the play area at QEC.
