U3A
U3A is an organisation made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired and wish to use some of their leisure time to share skills, to acquire new ones and to meet like-minded people. All U3A groups are affiliated to the Third Age Trust. Thame has two U3A groups. Thame & District U3A began in 1985 with about 40 members and now has about 350 members. It meets at Christchurch, High Street, Thame on the first Wednesday of each month, and at Thame Snooker club on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. These meetings offer the opportunity to hear a wide range of speakers and to meet other members over a cup of coffee.
