Cllr Bretherton’s Toast to the Nation

 

Cllr Bretherton, Thame Town Councillor and Chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council, has recorded this video to toast the nation on the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

The public is encouraged to join the Queen at 9pm on Friday 8th May 2020.

This is the first time such a tribute has ever taken place.

We must never forget the selflessness of all those who sacrificed so much to keep us free during the Second World War.  Not only the brave men and women who fought on the front lines, but also the courageous men and women on the home front and all who put their lives on the line for this nation’s struggle.

So please raise your glass.

The Toast is:

‘For those who gave so much, we thank you.’
