New Community Youth Centre for Thame

Thame Youth Projects’ partnership, with Thame Town Council, took an important step forward at a Joint Working Group meeting on 10th June. Following a competitive tendering process, Acanthus Clews Architect has been appointed to conduct a feasibility study into the best location for a new Community Youth Centre in Thame.

The architects’ firm will review the strengths and weaknesses of all potential locations. Last year a Southern Road Recreation Ground site was proposed, for this new building, and the public consultation feedback will be included in this review.

The independent report is expected back by the end of this August.

Chair of the Joint Working Group, Paul Smith said

Our work, in the autumn, will be to put the recommended site at the heart of plans to bring a much-needed Youth Centre to Thame.

While the town’s young people look forward, to the outcome of the study, Thame Youth Projects continues to support them through its exciting Park Life initiative.

Park Life invites young people, aged 11-18, to come along to Thame’s Southern Road Recreation Ground to play games, hang out with friends and meet new people. Park Life runs every Wednesday from 3-5pm. The young people can try Ultimate Frisbee, Diabolo, Boules, Juggling and more.

Comments and questions are invited from young people and all those who are committed to their futures.  Please email admin@thameyouthprojects.org.uk.
