Residents are being asked to comment on changes put forward by parish councils in South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse which could affect how their local area is run.

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are carrying out a Community Governance Review. This involves reviewing existing arrangements for parishes across the two districts, inviting requests for changes from parish councils and then adopting and implementing any changes which would benefit the local area. The councils carry out this type of review every four years.

Last year, Thame Town Council was invited to put forward their proposals and the following requests for Thame have now been taken forward for formal consultation:

  • Amending the boundary of the parish to include land up to North Weston, currently in Great Haseley, within Thame parish
  • Review of the warding arrangements to provide electoral representational balance between the North and South wards

To view the full proposed changes and to find out how you can have your say, please visit southoxon.gov.uk/communitygovernance

The consultation runs until midday on Friday 29 April 2022.

Once this consultation has ended, the councils’ Community Governance and Electoral Issues Committees will consider the responses and then put forward draft proposals on the changes for further consultation later this year. Subject to any amendments, the final changes will then be adopted so they apply from the May 2023 elections.
