Please be a responsible dog owner
The Town Council continues to receive reports of out-of-control dogs off leads, children and adults being frightened and unable to enjoy Thame’s parks and public open spaces. In particular there has been recent reports of dogs off leads running ahead of their owners from Cuttle Brook nature reserve into Southern Road Recreation Ground. On Thursday 23 June, a member of staff reported a near miss when a small dog ran out of Cuttle Brook towards the tractor just as the grass deck had been lifted to enable the tractor to turn. At no point did the dog’s owner appear. Luckily the dog ran back into Cuttle Brook, but it could have been a very different outcome. During the summer months the grass in our parks is cut regularly by the Town Council’s maintenance team using heavy duty machinery, which they need to be able to carry out in a safe environment. The parks are litter picked daily so that they can be enjoyed not just by residents and visitors of all ages, but also by those attending exercise classes and school sports days.
Please keep your dogs on leads in our parks!
