Annual Town Meeting Report

On a sunny evening on the 17 April, Thame’s Annual Town Meeting took place at the Barns Centre. Residents were welcomed with refreshments and the Town Council would like to thank everyone who provided fantastic input into the interactive activity, to assist the Town Council in developing a strategy for Thame and a name for the new Community & Youth Centre building project.
 
The meeting started with a welcome from the Mayor and a presentation from the Town Clerk outlining the work of the 17 members of council staff who support Thame’s 16 Town Councillors, and the many exciting projects the Town Council is working on. After this, the floor was open for residents to ask questions to the town, district, and county councillors.
 
Questions covered a wide range of topics: banking in Thame; highways maintenance; speed monitoring; car parking; the Cattle Market; council tax rises; signage on Lea Park; Moorend Lane planning application; River Thame water pollution; housing development at The Elms; Elms Park play area refurbishment; Haddenham-Thame cycleway; pharmacies; vacant town centre buildings; reporting on births, deaths and marriages; new allotments; replacement of disabled parking behind the former Co-Op; Thame Neighbourhood Plan; residents parking permits; street lighting; police presence; and ongoing roadworks.
