Major Road Closures on the A418 Oxford Road

From 12th July until November 2024, motorists can expect some major delays on the A418 Oxford Road between Thame and Aylesbury.

The HS2 Community Engagement Team report that from mid-July the A418 Oxford Road will be closed several times in order to bring the new road alignment into use. The works will culminate with the reopening of the new section of road in November. Part of the old A418 Oxford Road will remain for residents access only.

The work will begin with two weekend closures in July. There will then be a 2-week closure and a further 1-week closure later in the year. Three additional weekends have also been identified to cover any delays with the scheduled works.

The closures are as follows:

  • Friday 12 July 8:30pm – Monday 15 July 5:30am
  • Friday 26 July 8:30pm – Sunday 28 July 6pm
  • Friday 9 August 8:30pm – Monday 12 August 5:30am (Contingency weekend)
  • Friday 16 August 8:30pm – Monday 2 September 5:30am (2 week closure)
  • Friday 18 October 8:30pm – Monday 21 October 5:30am (Contingency weekend)
  • Friday 25 October 8:30pm – Monday 4 November 5:30am (1 week closure)
  • Friday 15 November 8:30pm – Monday 18 November 5:30am (Contingency weekend)
