Parking
The High Street and Upper High Street Car Parks will be closed from 4.00pm on Wednesday 18 September 2024. Residents’ parking permits for these car parks will not be valid during the closure period. Please ensure that the area is clear of all vehicles including those of your family and visitors.
Where can visitors park?
There will be an extended parking area at Southern Road Recreation Ground where visitors can park. Disabled parking will be in North Street for a limited period between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
What if I live, work or need to deliver goods on those roads?
If you have access to off-street parking within the grounds of a home or business then you can apply for an access permit. The parking area or access must not interfere with the temporary road restrictions or access. Permits will need to be requested per vehicle from the Information Centre at the Town Hall. If you need a permit then be sure to apply before the fair.
Delivery vehicles will be allowed into North Street for a limited time to either deliver or collect goods but Town centre deliveries must adhere to Road Closure conditions.
Will the taxis still be running?
The usual taxi service will continue but move from the High Street to North Street during the fair.
If you have any queries, please contact the Town Hall during working hours.
Barriers will be in position at the following locations:
High Street at the junction with Bell Lane.
North Street at the junction with Wellington Street.
Upper High Street at the junction with East Street.
Rooks Lane at the Upper High Street junction.
Nelson Street at the Upper High Street junction.
Other traffic management arrangements for this period will be as follows:
Diverted Traffic Routes: No parking at any time on Wellington Street and Southern Road.
Entry to Nelson Street, Broadwaters Avenue, or anywhere in that area of the town should follow the diversion signs.
