Thame Urban Race 2024

Try an adventure race around Thame – there’s a twist though. There’s no set route to the courses! Organised by Thames Valley Orienteering Club, this is an urban orienteering race where you have to find your own way around a series of checkpoints as fast as you can, using a special map of Thame to choose your own route. They could be around the alleys off the High Street, the paths around Lea Park, or around Cuttlebrook Nature Reserve. We give you a timing chip to register each one. Be as competitive as you want – you can run or just go at your own pace (it’s absolutely fine to just come for a walk too).

Newcomers extremely welcome, and positively encouraged! Take part solo, in pairs, or in a family group. Bring your friends and challenge them to see who can complete the courses the fastest! We’ve planned seven exciting courses to choose from, from 2km to 12km. Lots of help available, and no experience is necessary. It’s ideal for families and children, as well as runners. No experience is necessary and our friendly Welcome Team can help you before you start. Just don’t forget your sense of adventure!

WHERE?
Race HQ is at Thame Town Hall.

WHEN?
Sunday 29 September. You can start a course from 10:30 to 12:30. Courses close and everyone must have finished by 2pm.

ENTRIES
It’s pre-entry only – so you must enter in advance, via the event page below. It’s £8 for the shorter courses, £14 for longer courses (£4 solo juniors), plus £2 for hire of a timing chip. Groups also just pay the single rate (not per person). Entry fee includes a special very detailed A3 waterproof map of Thame, to keep as a souvenir, plus a print out of your splits and result at the finish.
