  • Thame Swimming Club 2016 Club Championships

    Thame Swimming Club held their 2016 Club Championships at Thame Leisure Centre on Sunday 20th November. Swimmers from all levels took part in events ranging from 50 freestyle up to 200m. Many of the swimmers were trying to gain not only personal bests but also county qualification times. Every swimmer performed to their best and gained experience of racing at a busy gala.   • Coaching Workshop for Young Entrepreneur Competition Finalists a Great Success!

    The finalists in Thame’s Small Business Saturday Young Entrepreneurs Competition attended a free coaching workshop on Saturday 26th November at Christchurch in Thame. They were coached by Jean Gamester of Semaphora Consulting, who specialises in developing people, training in public speaking and communications skills. Jean provided her time free of charge to the young entrepreneurs, who are all under 30, many attending schools and colleges in Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire.   • Community Facilities Working Group – Public Meeting

    The Thame Neighbourhood Plan (TNP) includes policies related to the provision of a large community facility for Thame. This built on great work over many years by the community of Thame and since the adoption of the Neighbourhood Plan further impacts, initiatives and requirements have been established. Three potential sites were defined in the TNP, but provision is not limited to those sites if a better location is found. Numerous potential solutions have been discussed over the years.   • Funding award for ‘open access’ children’s services in Thame

    Sharing Life Trust, Thame will receive funding worth £30,000 to run ‘open access’ children services that will complement a comprehensive new service across Oxfordshire which ensures children at risk of abuse and neglect are protected. The grant, from a scheme set up by the county council, aims to allow Sharing Life Trust to develop and deliver the services that are most important to the community, responding to specific local needs.   • Thame’s Christmas Lights have been switched on!

    On Friday 2 December, Thame hosted its annual Christmas Lights Switch-On event. The event was well attended with a range of festive stalls, attractions and entertainment on offer.   Colonel Custard started the event with some fantastic stilt-walking and Christmassy balloon-making! Everyone’s favourite Police Pup and Tink the Green Fairy were hugely popular with younger children and made a PAWesome addition to the event.   • Christmas Tea Party 2016

    On Friday 9 December, Thame Football Club hosted the town’s annual tea party. The Town Council would like to say a big thank you to all involved. The event, which was jointly organised by Rotary, Inner Wheel and the Town Council, was a great success. Over 80 senior citizens enjoyed the various entertainment on offer, from joining in the singing with John Hampden School Choir to playing bingo. There were many volunteer helpers, including volunteers from the Thame Good Neighbour Scheme, on the day serving food and clearing tables as well as helping guests find the bingo numbers! You can…
