Minutes of the Meeting of Thame Town Council held on 22 January 2014 at 6.30pm in the Upper Chamber, Thame Town Hall

1 Apologies for Absence

Apologies for absence were received from Cllrs Butler (Other Interest), Dixon (Personal), Stiles (Unwell) and Welply (Unwell).

 
2 Declarations of Interest

Cllr Dodds declared an interest as a SODC Cabinet Member responsible for finance.  Cllr Bretherton declared an interest as a member of the SODC Finance Committee.

 
3 Public Participation

There were no applications to address the Council.

 
4 Minutes

RESOLVED that:

i)             The minutes of the meeting held on 17 December 2013 be approved as a correct record and be signed by the Mayor.

 
5 Budget and Precept for 2014-2015

The proposed budget figures for 2014-15 were discussed.  Concern was raised regarding the uncertainty in the level of Council Tax Support that would be available in the future.  South Oxfordshire District Councillors confirmed that the District Council had made a commitment to pass on Council Tax Support to town and parish councils until 2018.

It was felt any increase to the precept should be kept below the current inflation rate but should be at a level to provide a sustainable budget.

RESOLVED that:

i)             The revenue budget for 2014-15 be increased by 2.44%

ii)            A precept of £518,958 be raised for 2014-15.
